Heather Carter-Jenkins is a distinguished attorney known throughout Utah. She joined Murray, Ziel, & Johnston, PLLC, in July 2024, bringing a wealth of experience and a passion for the legal system. Before joining MZJ, Heather owned and operated Jenkins Law Office from 2011 to 2024, practicing law across Utah’s 8 districts and 8 Indian Reservations.
 
Heather graduated with Honors from Brigham Young University in 2001 with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Art History. She was awarded the University Scholarship for all four years and was the only BYU legislative intern to work for the Democratic minority in the Utah Legislature. She also participated in the London Theater BYU Study Abroad program and was nominated as the Udall Fellow, focusing on the unique plight of Native American Tribes in Utah.
 
After her undergraduate studies, Heather ran capital campaigns for Utah legal service nonprofits, inspired by influential attorneys like Utah Supreme Court Justice Christine Durham and Alan Sullivan of Snell & Wilmer. She earned her Juris Doctor from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU in 2006, where she was active in the A. Sherman Christensen Inn of Court and the National Moot Court Competition Team, serving as Vice President of Alumni Relations and chairing the political section of the Government and Public Law Society.
 
Licensed to practice in the U.S. Federal Courts and Utah State Courts, Heather is also a basic and domestic mediator for Utah. A lifelong Utah resident, she lives in the Salt Lake Valley with her husband and family. Heather’s dedication to her community is evident through her volunteer work and support for the arts, and she takes pride in making a positive impact through her legal practice.
