E. Alex Muir, is the newest member of Murray, Ziel, & Johnston, PLLC. He joined the firm in 2022. His practice areas primarily include criminal defense, family law, contract disputes, adoptions, and personal injury.
Before joining the law firm of Murray, Ziel, & Johnston, PLLC, Alex served in several legal positions. He began his legal career in the Mini-Cassia Public Defenders office where he had the opportunity to represent indigent clients. Alex then made the move to Idaho Falls in 2013 and began working as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Bonneville County. Over the next decade, Alex would prosecute for both Bonneville County as well as the City of Idaho Falls. Alex has prosecuted every type of case there is, everything from a speeding ticket to First Degree Murder. Alex has also spent time as a Public Defender in Bonneville County. During his time in these positions, he had the opportunity to gain extensive trial and courtroom experience.
Prior to law school, Alex attended the University of Utah, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Alex then went on to attend law school at University of Idaho College of Law in Moscow Idaho were graduated in 2011. During law school Alex spent completed a summer clerkship for the Honorable Richard G. Bevan in Twin Falls Idaho; he also obtained his mediation certificate from the Northwest Institute for Dispute Resolution and worked in the legal aid clinic; and he graduated with a pro bono distinguishment.
Outside of work, Alex is married and he and his wife have four children, who help them learn the art of patience. Alex enjoys spending time with his family and serving his community and church. When not working, Alex enjoys going four wheeling, working on home improvement projects, playing, and watching sports and traveling with his family.
